BUKKAKE UDON

Founder Hiroshi Furuichi loved playing mahjong, and he always ate Zaru Udon Noodles while he played.
One day, the current chairman, Ryōichi Furuichi—who was a child at the time—was asked to prepare a meal. Wanting to make it easier for his father to keep playing mahjong, he put Zaru Udon Noodles into a bowl, poured the sauce over the top, and added the toppings before serving it.
After tasting it, Hiroshi Furuichi is said to have exclaimed, “Let’s serve this at the restaurant!”
 This was the moment when the Kurashiki specialty BUKKAKE Udon Noodles were born.
From there, Ryōichi Furuichi continued refining this BUKKAKE style, developing it into the beloved Kurashiki soul food it is today.

 

A two-time champion at the Udon Grand Prix

 
Kurashiki Udon “BUKKAKE” Furuichi won the national championship for two consecutive years at the Udon Grand Prix, one of Japan’s largest udon events, held at Yoyogi Park in Tokyo in 2016 and 2017. Local udon specialties from across the country gathered to compete for the top title, and Furuichi received the highest honor.
